Dr.Hunt grew up in Sydney, Australia. He graduated from Sydney University's Veterinary Science School in 1969 and practiced Veterinary Medicine in Sydney and then in Brampton and Toronto, in Ontario, Canada.
In 1975 he attended the Graduate School at Cornell University , on scholarship, and graduated in 1977 with a Master's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, specializing in reproductive studies.
Dr.Hunt relocated to Southern California in 1978 where he practiced small animal and equine medicine and surgery and taught a Veterinary course at UC Irvine before being asked to join Dr.Roy Bishop's prominent Equine Practice
at Santa Anita in Arcadia,California.
In 1984 the doctor moved to Lompoc, and started a veterinary hospital with the aim of bringing affordable pet care to Lompoc. In 1989, he felt the need to upgrade his practice so he built St.Francis Veterinary Hospital , a state-of-the-art facility designed to exclusively care for dogs and cats.
Dr.Hunt loves to educate clients. He is gentle and compassionate and really cares about your pets. He has a strong interest in medicine and surgery and spends a lot of time researching the most current treatments that will optimize the healing of your pets. When he isn't healing pets he loves practicing and playing golf with his friends.
Shirley has been a registered technician since 1979. She first worked in equine reproduction and managed several major Arabian breeding farms. She then spent several years working at an equine surgical facility.In 1987 she started working with Dr. Brian Hunt and in 1989 they started St. Francis Veterinary Hospital. Her special interests are anesthesia, pain management and behavior.On her free time she enjoys hiking with her dog and riding her horses.
Taylor is our newest addition to the St. Francis team, joining us in June of 2016.
With her passion for animals and dedication to their care, she holds an excellent role here at St. Francis.
Taylor has been volunteering at our local animal shelter for 11 years and aspires to further her education in veterinary medicine.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her 2 guinea pigs, “Big Pig” & “Little Pig,” as well as her rabbit “Cookie,” her hamster “Temptleton,” and her poodle “Charlie.”
